Baseball Recap: South Dade Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sports Leadership & Management last Wednesday, South Dade came back down to earth. South Dade came up short against the Columbus Explorers on Friday, falling 13-7. The loss continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their meetings with the Explorers: they've now lost three in a row.

Luis Alejandro Mora made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Sebastian De Valle, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

South Dade's record now sits at 7-9. As for Columbus, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Looking ahead, South Dade will head out to square off against Mater Lakes Academy on Monday. Mater Lakes Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so South Dade's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Columbus, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against West Boca Raton at 6:00 p.m.
