Football Recap: Jasper Piles Up the Points Against Columbia + How To Watch

Jasper was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Columbia on Friday. The Vikings blew past the Eagles 61-22. The matchup marked the Vikings' most dominant win of the season.

It was another big night for Micah Pledger, who rushed for 154 yards and three TDs on only five carries. Those 154 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ej Oliver was another major influence, as he rushed for 34 yards and ran in a TD.

Despite the defeat, Columbia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tremayne Gilbert threw for 653 yards on perfect 20-for-20 passing. Gilbert is crushing it when it comes to passing yards: he's passed for at least 341 every time he's taken the field this season.

Jasper's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Columbia, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jasper will take on Lawrence County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will be up against the Red Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.44 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Columbia, they will square off against Hazel Green at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
