Baseball Recap: South Harrison Extends Winning Streak to Four

South Harrison waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Petersburg Vikings. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 3-1 victory on Thursday.

Jacob Watts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Harrison let Seth Gain and Corey Saltis run wild. Gain went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Saltis went 4-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Gain has posted since back in April.

South Harrison's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-13. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Petersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-7.

South Harrison didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-3 win against Cameron on the 21st. Petersburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
