Softball Recap: Wahama Has No Trouble Against Wirt County

Wahama had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Wirt County on Tuesday. Wahama's pitcher stepped up to hand Wirt County a 15-0 shutout. The match marked the White Falcons' most dominant win of the season so far.

Maggie Swisher looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Wahama got a massive performance out of Fiona VanMatre, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits VanMatre has posted since back in April of 2024. Kate Reynolds was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Wahama always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wahama pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Wirt County, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
