Basketball Recap: Branden King's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jimtown over South Bend Washington

Jimtown played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 82-58 to the South Bend Washington Panthers. The Jimmies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-22.

Jimtown lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Branden King, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. King is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Edward Potter, who posted nine points.

Steven Reynolds continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Bend Washington, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 13 boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which Reynolds has scored at least a third of South Bend Washington's points. DaKori Parker was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Jimtown has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for South Bend Washington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jimtown will square off against Elkhart Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jimtown is facing Elkhart Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Elkhart Christian Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for South Bend Washington, they will take on Mishawaka Marian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mishawaka Marian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
