Recap: Christian Learning Center Mustangs vs. Clinton Christian Academy Patriots
The Christian Learning Center Mustangs put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 45-27 win over Clinton Christian Academy. Given Christian Learning Center's advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 97th in Kansas, while Clinton Christian Academy is ranked 317th in Missouri), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Christian Learning Center to victory were Callie Trezona and Rylie Allen. Trezona scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Allen almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Allen posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Bean, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Clinton Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Clara Hyke, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Hyke is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carissa Compton, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Clinton Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Christian Learning Center racked up 15 assists.
Christian Learning Center's victory bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Clinton Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Christian Learning Center is on the road again on Saturday and plays Heartland at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. Heartland's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so Christian Learning Center's offense will have their work cut out for them. Clinton Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Plaza Heights Christian Academy at 10:30 a.m. on February 10th. Plaza Heights Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Clinton Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
