Soccer Game Preview: Marcus vs. Guyer

The Marcus Marauders will venture away from home to take on the Guyer Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marcus will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Marcus' defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Braswell 8-0. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Bengals are ranked 468th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Guyer, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Hebron on Tuesday. Lola Cavalle had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Wildcats.

Marcus is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-1-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those five contests. As for Guyer, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2-1.

Marcus beat Guyer by a goal in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 2-1. Will Marcus repeat their success, or does Guyer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
