Baseball Recap: Marshall Academy Wins Going Away Against Desoto

Marshall Academy picked up another tournament win on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the DeSoto Thunderbirds with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Patriots have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tucker Chumney and Gage Todd did most of the damage at the plate: Chumney scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Todd scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Chumney also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Kyler Todd was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Marshall Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Marshall Academy back to even at 6-6. As for DeSoto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Marshall Academy will take on Houston Christian at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for DeSoto, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Nettleton at 10:00 a.m.
