Recap: Mena Bearcats vs. Wright City Lumberjax
On Thursday, Mena suffered a rough 60-37 loss at the hands of Wright City. While losing is never fun, Mena can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 106th in Arkansas, while Wright City is ranked first in Oklahoma).
Madison Carter was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with 6 rebounds for Wright City. The game was Carter's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Shalan Haley, who scored 9 points.
Mena now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Wright City, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Mena will head out on the road to face off against Ozark at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ozark is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Wright City will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Smithville at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
