After a string of three wins, Hokes Bluff's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Leeds Greenwave by a score of 3-2.
Rylee Hill put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Makenna Bennich made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Sophia Jackson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Hokes Bluff's loss dropped their record down to 17-21. As for Leeds, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season.
Hokes Bluff will challenge Oneonta at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leeds, they will square off against Ashville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Greenwave surely won't give up without a fight.
