Preview: Argos Dragons vs. Culver Community Cavaliers
Argos is 10-0 against Culver Community since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Argos Dragons will look to defend their home court against the Culver Community Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Argos didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Kouts, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory. With that win, Argos brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Argos' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Richard, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Richard has scored at least a third of Argos' points. Luke Stults was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Culver Community had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 61-53 victory over DeMotte Christian on Thursday. The victory was just what Culver Community needed coming off of a 74-51 loss in their prior game.
Jack Rodgers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He hasn't dropped below three steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Caudill, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Argos' victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Culver Community, they pushed their record up to 7-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Argos have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 20.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Culver Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Argos beat Culver Community 54-45 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Does Argos have another victory up their sleeve, or will Culver Community turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
