Football Recap: Perkins Skates Past Huron with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Perkins over Huron in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Pirates blew the Tigers out of the water with a 41-6 final score. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six matchups by 35 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perkins to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam Schweinfurth, who threw for 170 yards and two TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes. Schweinfurth's passing game has become a key predictor of the Pirates' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Levi Jackson was in the mix too, providing Perkins with two touchdowns.

Perkins was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 328 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Perkins, bringing their record up to 6-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 7.64 yards per carry in those games compared to only 2.58 in the others. As for Huron, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perkins will challenge Columbian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Huron, they will face off against Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
