Softball Game Preview: Triad Knights vs. Highland Bulldogs

The Triad Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Highland Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Triad is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Triad needed a bit of extra time to put away Jersey. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Panthers 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Triad saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Syd Horn, who went 1-for-5 with one home run. That home run was Horn's first of the season.

Horn wasn't the only one making solid contact: Triad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jersey only managed six hits.

Meanwhile, Highland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 8-3 to Waterloo.

Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Triad, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-5.

Highland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Triad has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. It's a different story for Highland, though, as they've only averaged .309. Will they be able to contain Triad's hitters?

Triad beat Highland 4-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
