Basketball Recap: Monroe's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

On Saturday, the Monroe Bearcats wrapped up 2024 with a 49-30 victory over the North Salem Vikings. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 35th in Washington, while the Vikings are ranked 107th in Oregon), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monroe's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for North Salem, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.

Monroe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-61 defeat against Central Bucks East on the 30th. As for North Salem, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Newberg at 7:45 p.m. on January 7th.
