Basketball Recap: Rural Retreat Comes Up Short

Rural Retreat was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs, falling 52-29. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Eastern Montgomery's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grayson Caldwell led the charge by going 6 for 12 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Bruce, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Rural Retreat's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Eastern Montgomery, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Rural Retreat didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-39 loss against Bland County on the 20th. As for Eastern Montgomery, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-22 win against Craig County on the 16th.
