Basketball Recap: Grant Takes a Loss

Grant lost against Tioga back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Grant Cougars came up short against the Tioga Indians, falling 65-39. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Indians are ranked 69th).

When it comes to explaining why Grant lost, don't look at A Sykes. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Sykes is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played.

Grant has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 19 of their last 23 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-24 record this season. As for Tioga, they pushed their record up to 22-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Grant will host Peabody at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Peabody knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Grant likes a good challenge. As for Tioga, they will face off against Franklin Parish at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
