Baseball Recap: Lincoln-Way West Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Lincoln-Way West won against Andrew on Monday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Warriors beat the Thunderbolts by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-1. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Thunderbolts: they've now won five in a row.

Ben Joynt looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Conor Essenburg was excellent, going 1-for-6 with three RBI and one triple. Jackson Mansker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Lincoln-Way West pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Andrew, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lincoln-Way West will take on rival Lockport at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 2.8, the Porters 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Andrew is set to challenge their familiar foe Lincoln-Way Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
