Baseball Game Preview: Mooresville Blue Devils vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls

Mooresville hasn't had much luck against Hickory Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mooresville Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls at 6:30 p.m. Mooresville will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Mooresville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt R.J. Reynolds on Thursday. Everything went Mooresville's way against R.J. Reynolds as Mooresville made off with a 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won four games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

KJ Gillespie looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Dawson Bennett was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Connor Robertson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Mooresville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as R.J. Reynolds only managed three hits.

Meanwhile, Hickory Ridge came up short against Cuthbertson on Friday and fell 5-2. The Ragin' Bulls have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Mooresville's record now sits at 5-3. As for Hickory Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 5-3.

Mooresville suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Hickory Ridge in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Mooresville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
