Softball Recap: Molalla Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Molalla and Gladstone meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Indians took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gladiators. The Indians were not able to make up for their defeat to the Gladiators from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Brenna Jackson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Molalla now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Gladstone, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season.

While Molalla had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
