Basketball Game Preview: Weldon Valley Warriors vs. Front Range Baptist Falcons

The Weldon Valley Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Front Range Baptist Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Weldon Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Front Range Baptist will be coming in after a defeat.

Weldon Valley will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Briggsdale, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Weldon Valley walked away with a 43-35 win over Briggsdale on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Front Range Baptist entered their contest against Loveland Classical on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Front Range Baptist took a 41-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Loveland Classical. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Weldon Valley will need focus on slowing down Ethan Pierce, one of several Front Range Baptist players who made an impact when they last played. He posted seven points. The dominant performance also gave Pierce a new career-high in blocks (two). Mark Sutton was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Front Range Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 33 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Front Range Baptist's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3. As for Weldon Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Weldon Valley came up short against Front Range Baptist in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, falling 48-36. Thankfully for Weldon Valley, Daniel Macfarlane (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
