Softball Recap: Vinton County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Nelsonville-York on Friday, Vinton County came back down to earth. The Vikings fell 14-9 to the Athens Bulldogs on Monday. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Vinton County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Athens, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Vinton County is set to take on their familiar foe Alexander at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Athens will challenge rival Wellston at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
