After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gray Collegiate Academy, Aiken was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They managed a 60-54 win over the South Aiken Thoroughbreds. The Fighting Green Hornets haven't had any issues with the Thoroughbreds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Aiken's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tre'Von Walker, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 17 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanjaya Johnson, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

Aiken smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

South Aiken's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyson McLeod, who went 5-for-9 en route to 16 points and eight boards. Those 16 points gave McLeod a new career-high. Kelton Walker was another key player, going 5-for-7 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Aiken's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for South Aiken, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Aiken and South Aiken could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. Aiken (ranked 122nd) will meet Gray Collegiate Academy (ranked 18th) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, South Aiken will challenge Crestwood at 6:30 p.m. on Monday down 154 places (170 vs. 16).
