Football Game Preview: Riverside Pirates vs. Stanfield Tigers

For the first time this season, Riverside will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to square off against the Stanfield Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Riverside's last matchup with Powder Valley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Pirates were beaten by the Badgers 42-14.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Osmin Barrera, who rushed for 97 yards and one TD on only five carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jeremias Calvillo also helped out with an impressive 91 receiving yards.

Riverside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Barrera and Calvillo.

Meanwhile, Stanfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. The game between the Tigers and Irrigon didn't end well, with the Tigers falling 38-22.

Stanfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Riverside, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Riverside suffered a grim 30-6 defeat to Stanfield when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
