Soccer Game Preview: Midland Trail vs. James Monroe + Official Tickets

The Midland Trail Patriots will head out to face off against the James Monroe Mavericks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Midland Trail's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for ten straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Midland Trail fought the good fight in their overtime match against Pocahontas County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 1-0. That's two games in a row now that Midland Trail have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, James Monroe hadn't done well against Bluefield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mavericks blew past the Beavers 5-1. Considering James Monroe's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

James Monroe's win bumped their record up to 8-4-1. As for Midland Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11-1.

Midland Trail couldn't quite get it done against James Monroe in their previous matchup last Monday as they fell 3-1. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
