Volleyball Recap: Timothy Christian Starts Season with Win at Home

Timothy Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the York Dukes 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since October 21, 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Timothy Christian got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 19-25, 25-21.

Bella Potempa paced Timothy Christian's offense, picking up eight kills. Potempa got some help from Elizabeth Alex and her 18 assists. Finally, Ella Rickert kept Timothy Christian's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Despite the defeat, York saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lila Bennis had 16 digs and two aces.

Timothy Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Montini Catholic on the 27th. As for York, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Romeoville on the 27th.
