Baseball Game Preview: Van Nuys Wolves vs. Roybal Titans

The Van Nuys Wolves will face off against the Roybal Titans at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Van Nuys comes in on four and Roybal on three.

Van Nuys is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against George Washington Prep, sneaking past 3-1.

George Washington Prep's batters probably weren't too happy with Ricky Lomeli, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up two walks). Lomeli also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Van Nuys is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kevin Mata, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, Roybal posted their closest win since March 3, 2025 on Tuesday. They skirted past Jordan 3-2.

Roybal's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Van Nuys, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
