Basketball Recap: Dublin Fighting Irish vs. Wheeler County Bulldogs
Dublin unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 67-59 to the Wheeler County Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Glen Harris and Chris Dixon certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Harris went 7-for-14 on his way to 21 points, while Dixon shot 56% from the field to rack up 22 points.
Wheeler County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyree Travis led the charge by dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. That's the most points Travis has posted since back in December of 2024. Reco Wooten was another key player, putting up 18 points and three steals.
Dublin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-57 win against Wilkinson County on the 6th. As for Wheeler County, they have also already played their next game, a 68-56 victory against Bacon County on the 5th.
