Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Central Seminoles vs. Malvern Hornets

The Monroe Central Seminoles will take on the Malvern Hornets in a tournament on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Monroe Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Barnesville. They skirted past the Shamrocks 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Seminoles as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Prestin Binegar and Drew Landefeld did most of the damage at the plate: Binegar went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Landefeld went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Binegar a new career-high. Caedyn Silva also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Malvern made easy work of Aquinas on Friday and carried off a 9-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Malvern's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Monroe Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-17.
