Basketball Game Preview: La Quinta Aztecs vs. Saddleback Roadrunners

The La Quinta Aztecs are taking a road trip to square off against the Saddleback Roadrunners at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Quinta knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Saddleback likes a good challenge.

On Friday, La Quinta got the win against Century by a conclusive 62-40. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Aztecs just coasted through the last quarter.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saddleback). They breezed by Eastside Christian to the tune of 77-12 on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Roadrunners as they're now sitting on four straight.

La Quinta better keep an eye on Christopher Trotter. He was instrumental in Saddleback's win, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. The match was Trotter's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Steven Orellana was another key player, putting up ten points.

Saddleback was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

La Quinta has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Saddleback, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11.

La Quinta took their victory against Saddleback in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 67-47. Does La Quinta have another victory up their sleeve, or will Saddleback turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
