Basketball Game Preview: Eagan Wildcats vs. Centennial Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Eagan Wildcats duke it out with the Centennial Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Eagan sitting on three straight victories and Centennial on six.

Eagan is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Century 69-44 on Saturday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Panthers are ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Centennial was able to grind out a solid win over Forest Lake on Friday, taking the game 65-58.

Centennial's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Eagan, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Eagan came out on top in a nail-biter against Centennial when the teams last played back in December of 2023, sneaking past 55-52. Will Eagan repeat their success, or does Centennial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
