Baseball Recap: Briarwood Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Friday just wasn't the day for Briarwood Academy's offense. They fell 5-0 to the Glascock County Panthers on Friday. The Buccaneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 8-3.

Blake Tench was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Briarwood Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10. As for Glascock County, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-12.

Looking ahead, Briarwood Academy will be playing at home against Edmund Burke Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Buccaneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Glascock County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
