Softball Recap: Gooding Comes Up Short

Gooding dropped their record down to 13-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Kimberly Bulldogs, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Senators couldn't push the score so high this time.

Gooding saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Silver, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Kimberly, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.

On Kimberly's side, Mallory Kelsey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Kelsey has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kimberly let Addison Cann and Kalynn Benson run wild. Cann went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Benson went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cann has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaci Cowger, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.

As of now, neither Gooding nor Kimberly have any future games scheduled.
