Softball Game Preview: Lindale Eagles vs. Van Vandals

The Lindale Eagles will take on the Van Vandals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lindale comes in on four and Van on ten.

Lindale is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Mabank on Tuesday as Lindale made off with a 25-1 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

AJ McPherson looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Izzy Koonce was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Zaidyn Chamberlain was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Lindale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .529 that Mabank posted.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Van ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Canton.

Lindale pushed their record up to 12-5-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Van, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.

Lindale might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Van in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Lindale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
