League recap: Laguna Beach tops Calvary Chapel to extend winning streak

Orange Coast recap Oct. 23, 2012

Laguna Beach extended the longest winning streak in Orange Coast this week by beating Calvary Chapel, 56-13. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

Costa Mesa led the league in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on Saddleback. Oronde Crenshaw ran for 275 yards in the win.

Estancia's dynamic duo of Brad Wilson and Ben Beck proved tough for Godinez to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilson threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns and Beck had 141 yards receiving. Henry Vasquez helped Estancia's passing attack out by catching two balls for 69 yards.

6-foot-3 quarterback Colin Kearon of the Eagles is the league leader in passing yards this season with 936. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, the Eagles' Robert Murtha has rushed for 917 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Markiece Traylor. The Costa Mesa star has 26 catches for 539 yards.

Estancia's Murtha is a mere 83 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.

A big matchup in Orange Coast this week will be when Saddleback takes on Mike Bargas' team. Rob Thompson's team is in third place, while the Eagles are in second place.
