Softball Game Preview: West Vikings vs. South Spartans

For the second straight game, West will face off against South. The Vikings will head out to face off against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. West has given up an average of 14 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Thursday. They came up short against South, falling 25-1.

For South's part, Sienna Lopez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Lopez has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Aniyah Gordon was excellent, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Chavez, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

South has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for West, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
