Basketball Recap: West Point Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

West Point lost against Essex back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The West Point Pointers fell 60-51 to the Essex Trojans. While the Pointers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 14-9 in the first quarter.

Leading Essex to victory were Morgan Self and Makiryn Williams. Self went 8 for 16 on her way to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and six blocks, while Williams dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Aryeon Robinson, who posted 11 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.

West Point's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Essex, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-6.

West Point and Carver College and Career Academy will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for Essex, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northumberland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
