Basketball Recap: Pueblo Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Pueblo had won four straight games and America Cazares did her part to make it five on Monday. The Pueblo Warriors narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Catalina Foothills Falcons 68-66 thanks in part to Cazares, who went 11 for 25 en route to 31 points and three steals. Her afternoon made it 15 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Espinoza, who posted eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Catalina Foothills lost, don't look at Clara Mae Hager. Despite the final result, she went 9 of 21 on her way to 30 points. Hager also posted a block, marking her first of the season. Mercy Martinez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Pueblo pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Catalina Foothills, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-5.
