Preview: Bonita Springs Bullsharks vs. Golden Gate Titans
Bonita Springs is 0-2 against Golden Gate since September of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bonita Springs Bullsharks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Gate Titans at 7:00 p.m. Bonita Springs will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
While it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, Bonita Springs was not quite Gateway's equal in the second half two weeks ago. Bonita Springs took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gateway.
Despite the defeat, Bonita Springs got a solid performance out of Riley Deremer, who gained 126 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Golden Gate got the win against Barron Collier on Friday by a conclusive 44-21. The result was nothing new for Golden Gate, who have now won three matches by 23 points or more so far this season.
Golden Gate's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trayvon Jean, who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Jean's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of John lee Honorat, who rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Golden Gate's win bumped their season record to 5-2 while Bonita Springs' defeat dropped theirs to 1-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Bonita Springs has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 150 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Golden Gate struggles in that department as they've been even better at 244 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Bonita Springs took a serious blow against Golden Gate in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 47-10. Will Bonita Springs have more luck at home instead of on the road?
