Baseball Game Preview: King Lions vs. Chamberlain Storm

For the first time this season, King will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Chamberlain Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (King has three straight wins, Chamberlain has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

King's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Hillsborough. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly two runs.

The result came thanks to Owen Leever's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because King is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-10 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Chamberlain's offense. They lost 11-0 to Bloomingdale on Saturday.

Chamberlain's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for King, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

King came out on top in a nail-biter against Chamberlain when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. Does King have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chamberlain turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
