Baseball Recap: Mullen's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

It's playoff time, and Mullen had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Ponderosa on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for Mullen as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Thomas Stewart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mullen is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Mullen's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Marsh, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Mullen's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Ponderosa, they dropped their record down to 15-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

As of now, neither Mullen nor Ponderosa have any future games scheduled.
