Basketball Game Preview: Hunter-Tannersville Wildcats vs. Sharon Springs Central Spartans

The Hunter-Tannersville Wildcats will take on the Sharon Springs Central Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Hunter-Tannersville is headed into Monday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin Central on Saturday.

Sharon Springs Central fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 37-32 W against Worcester.

Hunter-Tannersville better keep an eye on Peyton Barbic. She was instrumental in Sharon Springs Central's win, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Barbic is becoming a predictor of Sharon Springs Central's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 4-2 (and 1-7 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Zarie Barbic, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Sharon Springs Central's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Hunter-Tannersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Hunter-Tannersville barely slipped by Sharon Springs Central in their previous meeting back in January, winning 37-36. Will Hunter-Tannersville repeat their success, or does Sharon Springs Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
