Preview: Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans vs. Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes
The Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while Griggsville-Perry is ranked 175th).
While it was all tied up 23-23 at halftime, Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia was not quite Greenfield/Northwestern's equal in the second half on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 57-32 defeat at the hands of the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Griggsville-Perry can now show off 15 landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They blew past Lutheran 67-15 at home. Griggsville-Perry pushed the score to 57-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Lutheran had no chance of recovering from.
Griggsville-Perry's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Myers, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. Wyatt Lipcaman was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven assists.
Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Griggsville-Perry, they pushed their record up to 24-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia took a serious blow against Griggsville-Perry in their previous matchup back in January, falling 52-17. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia was down 31-6.
