Recap: James Monroe Mavericks vs. Narrows Green Waves
The third road contest was the charm for the James Monroe Mavericks, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 65-56 win over Narrows on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead James Monroe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mary Beth Meadows, who scored 19 points along with 7 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Meadows has scored at least 25% of James Monroe's points. Ava Dunlap was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 6 steals.
The victory got James Monroe back to even at 2-2. As for Narrows, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. James Monroe will take on Greenbrier East at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Narrows, they will play host again and welcome Parry McCluer, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
