Volleyball Recap: Maple Mountain's Undefeated Season over After 18 Games

Maple Mountain was the 2-0 winner over Windward when they last played one another on Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Trey Thornton paced Maple Mountain's offense, picking up 16 kills. Thornton got some help from Taft Hillman and his 28 assists. Finally, Hillman was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Having lost for the first time this season, Maple Mountain fell to 17-1. As for Windward, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Maple Mountain and Wasatch will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on the 8th. The Wasps will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Windward, they will welcome Viewpoint at 5:15 p.m. on the 8th.
