Volleyball Recap: Brinley Deakins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northview over Bloomington South

After flying high against Cascade on Tuesday, Northview came back down to earth. The Knights came up short against the Bloomington South Panthers on Wednesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since August 20th.

While Northview was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-22, 25-15.

Northview lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brinley Deakins, who had 16 digs and three assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Dehart, who had five digs and two aces.

Bloomington South was led to victory by Charlie Monroe and Neely Warner. Monroe had six digs and five aces, while Warner had nine digs and two assists. That's the most digs Monroe has posted since back in October of 2024.

Northview's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Bloomington South, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northview will welcome Edgewood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Knights' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Bloomington South, they will square off against Brownstown Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
