On Tuesday, Petal faced Northwest Rankin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Petal Panthers fell just short of the Northwest Rankin Cougars by a score of 1-0. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Having lost for the first time this season, Petal fell to 8-1. As for Northwest Rankin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Petal will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Jones at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Northwest Rankin will take on St. Patrick in a holiday battle at at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
