Basketball Game Preview: Avon Orioles vs. Pike Red Devils

The Avon Orioles and the Pike Red Devils will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Avon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Avon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Ben Davis by a score of 60-56 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Aniah Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 20 en route to 25 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Makaylee Butts, who went 5 of 12 to rack up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Pike had just enough and edged Plainfield out 64-62 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

Avon's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Pike, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.

Avon came up short against Pike when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 75-68. Can Avon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
