Softball Recap: South Allegheny Beats Apollo Ridge for Their Fourth Straight Win

South Allegheny gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against the Apollo Ridge Vikings by a score of 6-2. While the Gladiators didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ava Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cameran Colecchi, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

The victory (which was South Allegheny's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Apollo Ridge, they moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. South Allegheny will square off against rival Brentwood at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Apollo Ridge is set to take on their familiar foe Springdale at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
