Soccer Recap: Marietta Comes Up Short

Marietta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cherokee Warriors. While losing is never fun, Marietta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Cherokee are ranked 50th).

Marietta's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Cherokee, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Marietta wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 6-0 loss against Riverwood on the 1st. As for Cherokee, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Southeast Whitfield County at 6:00 p.m. on the 8th. Southeast Whitfield County will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Cherokee surely won't give up without a fight.
