Basketball Game Preview: Houlka Wildcats vs. Thrasher Rebels

The Houlka Wildcats and the Thrasher Rebels will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Thrasher is hoping to do what Myrtle couldn't on Friday: put an end to Houlka's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Houlka put the hurt on Myrtle with a sharp 74-53 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Jerome Staton had an outrageously good game as he went 9 for 16 on his way to 24 points. Those 24 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Donnie Orgeron, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Houlka was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Thrasher made easy work of Potts Camp on Friday and carried off a 56-31 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rebels.

Thrasher is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Houlka, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
